"Nibbles" (nibbles)

Final bump. My wife wants to put it on consignment which will likely happen next weekend. Also a video of the top in action! New battery makes a bigly difference
We’re upgrading and want this 1997 Hi-Lo 24D to go to a good home. The star of The Great Nibbles Road Trip 2017, since our purchase in 2016 this camper has left Denver for Kansas City, Seattle, Estes Park (numerous times) and other points around Colorado. Dry weight of 4,400 and max 6,600. Trailers stupendously easy due to the low profile. 27 feet from coupler to bumper. Water system replaced (lines and tanks) in 2015. New tires last year. New water heater control valve today because I’m stupid. Everything works. Asking price $6,000. Be the talk of the campground! Email me qwinsta at outlook if yr interested
Tilt your head
Everything works! Except that clock. That clock does not work. Oh well, it’s set to 5:00 because IT IS FIVE O’ CLOCK SOMEWHERE AMIRITE MY DROOGS

Dry weight of 4,400
If it weighed 3k fewer pounds, you’d have a deal! :(

What’s the benefit of a hi-lo over a non self swallowing version? Garage storage?
Tongue weight? - Wondering if it surpasses the Taco rating.
Overall length?
Also, wise choice on the clock setting.

Lower profile so it goes under any overpass. Less wind resistance so it pulls easier and provides better fuel economy than full-side units. Also yeah at 6.5 feet tall you can store it in a deep garage.
Hitch weight is 670 - I don’t know your Taco but our old Dakota pulled it quite fine with a weight distribution hitch. Overall length is 27 feet from coupler to bumper.
Any other questions? Happy to answer. Also it comes with a complete owner’s manual

Pop ups were invented by Satan to make you hate going camping as much as possible until you were actually setup, then hate camping again when tearing down. Even my parents hybrid is a bit annoying sometimes.

I’d like to add that the biggest bonus to a Hi-Lo these days is the ‘wow!’ factor. People are constantly and consistently amazed at the thing; they’ll sit and gawk at us lifting and lowering it for ages
The only downside, and the reason we’re upgrading - The collapsible sides leave little room for stuff. We camped in it for 3.5 weeks straight and that was a tad too long for our liking; just not enough storage places to put months’ worth of people things. We are expecting to live in our camper for a few months when we sell the house, so there you have it

Man, I could totally live out of this. Actually, maybe I can’t - need room for my full ATX computer...

we like ours a lot. Sure its a little work getting it town down, but no more than a nice tent. The only things I don’t like about it are insulation and wind.

My parents had to go bigger as we usually have 5-6 people camping, plus dogs, but I think they’ll stick with the Hybrid for a few more years. My mom loves not having to pack the trailer to accommodate for the height. We’ll really see what happens when the wife and I go ahead and get our own.

Ours would sleep 6 easy, but we only have 4 including us. The nice thing about the popup is the interior space is huge compared to a similar sized hybrid or hardtop, and the interior light levels are night and day. The main reason is that its light and low enough to pull happily with either car. The Cruiser does it but doesn’t love it, the GX begs for more.

Install computer in outside storage bin under couch
Run KVM lines through to interior
Profit from quiet and cool operation
EDIT: Or just install computer under couch, there’s a lot of space there that isn’t great for a whole lot of things. Plus it’d be right next to the inverter and PDC

Luckily we have the Sequoia and the Tundra so towing the hybrid is nearly a joke either way haha.

Or just do a mini ITX or micro ATX build in one of those fancy Silverstone cases.

Hmmmm ... That would be pushing it for my truck’s 5700 pound tow rating ... How big is the big bed up front?

Yeah 5700 is really tight. The bed up front is a real King. The overhead bunk and dinette are both Full

What year/make/model/trim? Our 95 Dakota pulled this without a hiccup and, as I had been told, the POs towed it with a Forester

‘06 Sierra crew cab, 2wd, 4.8 L engine, 3.20:1 rear gear
My combo is so weird, the manual doesn’t even list it as an option in the tow rating page. I had to extrapolate other ratings to come up with that number. I think the reason I got it so cheap (brand new, out the door for under $22k), is nobody wanted a 2wd crew cab with the small V8.

That would be perfect sleeping arrangements for my family. We had a 4000 pound dry hybrid for a while, and the truck towed it ... OK, as long as the ground was flat. It felt like the drag of that camper was a bigger factor than the weight. I’ll have to give this a good long think.

Crazy. Cool camper though! You definitely don’t see these much. They seem very practical compared to a traditional trailer.

I would be tempted to paint a MAD Fold-in style on the side of it..

They are really freakin’ neat. I love this thing but the inside storage leaves a bit to be desired, particularly if planning to live out of it for months. That’s the big reason we want to upgrade
That and my wife spent 6 weeks in her parents’ fifth wheel, with an infrared fireplace and HDTV and big-ass kitchen and leather loungers and

HAHA that would be awesome!
We were thinking of painting the top blue and the bottom covered bits orange, so we could troll all the Seahawks fans, but then we found out there’s not much of a tailgating scene in Seattle
Sucks to be them

This is nice. We’ve been wanting a pop-up but we have nowhere to put one this large at the moment. I’m also not sure how well the Bronco would do with something that long at highway speeds.

TBH, some of the 60s ones actually do get under 1400...
1963: http://www.hilotrailer.com/pdfs/1963.pdf
Camper: 1200 lbs
Custom Camper: 1325 lbs (adds a galley)
De Luxe Custom Camper: 1350 lbs (adds room for a toilet and adds more ventilation)
1964: http://www.hilotrailer.com/pdfs/1964.pdf
They basically moved everything down a model name and added 25 lbs (so the Custom Camper became the Camper, the De Luxe Custom Camper became the Custom Camper)
1965: http://www.hilotrailer.com/pdfs/1965.pdf
The Camper got the toilet space provision, and gained more weight (up to 1400 lbs, with the Custom Camper being over 1400).
After that things got a bit bigger, it looks like.
(I’ll be honest, there’s a part of me that wonders how much camper could be done in under 1100 lbs loaded weight, with a low profile - 1100 lbs is the most I’d feel safe towing with a Gen 4 Prius due to tongue weight limits.)

So what if someone offers your full asking price... but it’s gonna go to a bad home... a home full of hookers, blow and neglected children?

It’s definitely a nice trailer and sadly there are no hookers and blow in my home. Of course I have some minor issues... such as not having the US$6000, not having a spot to park it, not having vehicle that can tow it and teen kids who don’t want to go on vacations that involve the word ‘camping’

My problem with pop ups are in the south, it gets way too hot for the tent to keep cool, and when I go camping, I don’t want to spend hours setting up my tent when I could be just camping
